We crave it
Like an addict
Who needs a fix
To feel good, feel satisfied

Teaches us
That love is a basic human need
Like food, shelter, clothing
Human experience
Shares the wisdom
Of the “self” searching
For a kindred spirit or soul mate
We have discovered:
Without love
The mind obsesses for
Its likeness, some similarities
Without love
The body hungers
For the touch
Of another
Without love
The human spirit
Exists in misery
Like a tormented ghost
Without love
We wilt, wither like a flower
Lives without water
or we walk the earth
In lonely solitude
